Alastair Low-Macrae is a Chartered Engineer with extensive experience in the construction industry.  He has led teams in the design and assessment of a wide range of building structures, including new-build residential towers, multi-unit commercial developments, deep basements and ‘cut-and-carve’ refurbishments. He has experience with both Grade I and Grade II listed buildings.

Alastair has experience in the design and assessment of Higher-Risk Buildings (HRBs) and co-authored the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE) publication ‘Assessing higher-risk buildings under the Building Safety Act: a compendium of structural typologies’ (2024).  In addition to the traditional materials of concrete, steel and masonry, he has experience in the design and assessment of modern engineered timber products, including cross-laminated timber (CLT), laminated veneer lumber (LVL) and dowel laminated timber (DLT).
