Roof water penetration and tiling defects

Major Listed Building – UK

This project involved the investigation of water penetration through the roof and defects in the new faience tiling of an extension to a major listed building.  The project had recently been completed and the contractor had agreed to carry out appropriate remedial works.

WJM&P were engaged by solicitors acting for the building owner initially to investigate the reported defects.  Water tests were carried out on the structure and a close inspection was made of the new faience tiling to confirm the causes of the defects.  Our brief was subsequently expanded to advise the building owner on the suitability and progress of the remedial works devised by the original architect for the project.

The remedial works were successfully completed, and the water penetration issues have been resolved.
