Deflection and water ingress

Curtain Walling – UK

This matter involved the refurbishment of a 1960s office block in Glasgow.  Significant issues had been identified over a number of years, including deflection and rotation of curtain walling transoms, water ingress, failure, and detachment of glazed units.

WJM&P were engaged as architectural experts by solicitors acting for the curtain walling subcontractor to investigate the nature, extent and cause of the alleged defects and the roles of the parties.

We visited the site, reviewed the various expert reports prepared by others, attended technical and strategic meetings, advised the subcontractor and prepared expert reports on the issues.

The matter was settled by negotiation prior to any formal dispute resolution.
