Water ingress
Anaerobic Digestion Plant – UK
This project involved the design and construction of a new anaerobic digestion plant in the Midlands. A number of years after the plant had been built, significant water ingress started occurring into the basement. The building owner/operator submitted a claim for the losses incurred which was disputed by the design and build contractor.
WJM&P were engaged as engineering experts by solicitors acting for the building owner/operator to advise on the cause of and responsibility for the failure, and the likely scope of remedial works. Our investigation included an analysis of the contract documents, a review of the investigations by others, and an assessment of the adequacy of the reinforced concrete basement retaining walls and slab against the relevant standards.
Our expert report on the technical issues was exchanged with the design and build contractor, and the building owner/operator’s claim was settled by negotiation prior to formal dispute resolution.
